The South Sea Shell Pearl is made from the thickest part of an oyster shell. This raw material, also used to make cultured pearls, is called the "mother of pearl bead." It is shaped and polished to the final shape of the pearl. The nacre layers, which are made by oysters or mussels in a cultured pearl, is replaced with a new technology of far more durable man-made nacre material. This modern form of production also assures longevity. This superior AAA shell pearl will keep its shine and color over time.
